Introduction

Alma Mater Europaea is an international university initiated by the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Salzburg, Austria. The Academy unites about 2,000 top scientists, including 34 Nobel Prize winners. Over 2,000 students from 30+ countries study at Alma Mater’s doctoral, master, and bachelor programs in humanities, project management, artificial intelligence, sustainable development, business, strategic communication, social gerontology, physical therapy, and nursing.

Alma Mater Europaea is committed to producing graduates whose qualifications are nationally and internationally recognized and accepted. Mission, Vision, and Strategy

Mission

The basic mission of AMEU is to develop and implement quality, complementary and sought for European-oriented applied and competitive programs needed primarily by the business sectors of Slovenia and Central Europe.

The mission of AMEU is to implement top-quality pedagogical and scientific research programs in various fields, and to serve the community as a university center promoting the development, spread and use of knowledge in the field of various sciences. AMEU has developed cooperation with universities in the region and other European countries with the aim of acquiring and implementing new knowledge and developing the new knowledge in cooperation with other universities in the region.

AMEU therefore contributes to the economic and cultural development and the creation of values and fulfills the local, national and regional mission in the educational, research and cultural fields on the basis of a transnationality and interdisciplinary approach.

Vision

AMEU’s vision is to become an international education center, a center of excellence in education and research, which will use its strategic and applied research to creatively solve economic, technological, health and socio-political, ecological and climate and intercultural issues of Central Europe, primarily the Danube Region and the Balkans.

As an open academic community it will offer, in association with its partners, projects for economic and technological development, peace and democracy, sustainable development, and the development of an ecological balance in the region, thereby contributing to European reintegration.

Development Strategy

The work of AMEU is based on the following strategic policies:

the development of study programs in the fields that have the greatest number of job positions available;

  • the development of fundamental scientific disciplines on which study programs are based;
  • the implementation of applied scientific research activity and the transfer of achievements into the environment;
  • the cooperation with commercial and other organizations;
  • the performance of professional development and consulting work;
  • an international connection with education and research institutions.

Accreditation

All Alma Mater Europaea undergraduate and graduate programs are fully accredited by NAKVIS, the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.

Austria

Due to its rich cultural past and present, Austria is cherished by people worldwide.

Salzburg

Nestled under the Alps the fourth largest city of Austria is world famous for being the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and internationally renowned for its’ baroque architecture. The city has three universities and a large student population. Salzburg houses the headquarters of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Salzburg is one of the most beautiful cities of Europe, which has been carefully preserved over the centuries. It is surrounded by spectacular landscapes, lakes, Alpine foothills and mountain peaks.

The palaces, archbishops' churches, squares and fountains, and most notably the Fortress, reflect the love of splendor of the once powerful archbishops who ruled the city.

The beauty of the city and the natural setting has attracted travelers for centuries and still is a major tourist attraction today. You will be able to get to know the town more intimately than any tourist can.

Slovenia

Slovenia strongly supports the idea of construction of a genuine European area of knowledge and strives to implement measures supporting equal opportunities, school success, mobility in general, higher education and vocational education and training, language learning, safety at school, non-discrimination, educational technologies and distance education, academic and professional recognition of qualifications, educational statistics, overall development of general education and vocational training, development of undergraduate and the modernization of postgraduate studies.

Ljubljana

Ljubljana is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. Besides having everything that all the other modern capitals have, Ljubljana succeeded in maintaining the relaxed atmosphere of a small city. Ljubljana has a large student population and its’ central geographic location means you can reach the Alps or the Adriatic Sea within an hour.

Maribor

Maribor is the second largest city in Slovenia. In 2012 it was the European Capital of Culture and in 2013 it was the European Youth Capital. It is the hometown of many famous and internationally renowned artists and sportsmen, the most successful football club in Slovenia, the oldest vine in the world, the second oldest synagogue in Europe, host of the ladies FIS alpine skiing world cup… Maribor has a large student population and is a popular destination for exchange students.

Murska Sobota

Murska Sobota is the biggest town in the northeastern part of Slovenia and the regional capital of Prekmurje. It has a unique feature in comparison to the rest of Slovenia, which is mostly Alpine: Muska Sobota is the only Slovenian town situated on an actual plain. Throughout the year, the life of the town is enriched by cultural, entertaining, traditional, culinary, and sports events.

Croatia

Croatia is a welcoming place for students wishing to study in a country renowned for its beautiful coast, for its mix of Mediterranean and South-Eastern European charm and for its rich historical and cultural heritage.

Zagreb

Zagreb is the capital and largest city of Croatia. It is the cultural, economic, sporting and governmental hub of the country. Zagreb is a vibrant city with a large student population, famous for its many green parks and nightlife. The city throbs with energy but has managed to retain a good deal of old-world graciousness.

    Graduate Admissions

    Our selective doctoral and masters programs are tailored to recent graduates and early-career professionals from any country and diverse set of backgrounds. Each year we accept 20 to 40 students in each master's program, and between 12 and 20 doctoral candidates per PhD program.

    • For the master's program, the minimum criteria are a bachelor’s/undergraduate degree and English language proficiency.
    • For the Ph.D., at minimum, you need to hold a master's degree or a 4-year undergraduate/bachelor’s degree, and very good command of written and spoken English.

    The Admission Process

    The admission process is hassle-free and easy. It starts with your non-binding online application, which takes about 15-20 minutes. You are encouraged to fill it out as soon as possible, as we accept applications on a rolling basis.

    As part of your application, you will indicate whether you are applying for the merit- or need-based Academicus scholarship.

    You will hear from the Admissions Office within ten days of your application. If the Admission Office team confirms you as a suitable candidate, you will be invited to an interview and upload your diplomas and documents. You will receive the Academicus scholarship decision and apply for additional scholarships, including some that cover full tuition.

    Via Calendly, you will sign up for the interview, which will take place within a week. Within a week after the interview and your complete application, Alma Mater will accept or reject your application and inform you about the scholarships and the tuition.
