Lapland University of Applied Sciences is the northernmost University of Applied Sciences in Finland. It was formed when Kemi-Tornio and Rovaniemi Universities of Applied Sciences merged on 1 January 2014. The institution offers a modern and international learning environment with good students services in all of its educational units, which are located in towns of Rovaniemi, Kemi and Tornio.

The University of Applied Sciences has four fields of expertise:

  • Social Services, Health and Sports, with administrative headquarters in Rovaniemi
  • Business and culture, with administrative headquarters in Tornio
  • Travel and tourism, with administrative headquarters in Rovaniemi
  • Industry and natural resources, with administrative headquarters in Kemi

Each field of expertise includes several educational and research areas with which we carry out our mission to provide vocational oriented university education and to conduct research, development and innovation work that especially serves Lapland.

Bachelor of Healthcare in Nursing

The goal of the degree program is to educate healthcare professionals with general and special knowledge in health care and nursing. The studies enable graduates to work in Finland and other international environments in hospitals and health centers as well as in the private sector. The aim of the program is to provide the students with a broad core knowledge base as well as the advanced knowledge necessary to fulfill current and future needs in health care.

The students receive good theoretical and practical skills in nursing, nursing science, and nursing research so as to be able to contribute to the development of nursing. In the learning process, the student formulates links between practical experience and theoretical concepts. These links require the integration of theory and practice and that is facilitated by reflection on practice. The clinical practice can be done in Finland or abroad.... [-]
