Introduction

The general purpose of this programme is to provide students with advanced, multidisciplinary and integrative training, aimed at promoting initiation into research tasks in the field of Biomedicine. To this end, the following specific objectives are formulated:

  • To expand students' knowledge of the main techniques of interest in biomedical research (microscopy, bioassays and functional tests, biomics techniques, scientific method and data analysis, clinical trials, bioinformatics).
  • To provide students with the theoretical training necessary to obtain qualifications in animal experimentation (in accordance with Order ECC/566/2015, of March 20, which establishes the training requirements that must be met by personnel who handle animals used, bred or supplied for experimental and other scientific purposes, including teaching) and to help them develop a critical view of the design of experiments with animal models, based on the review and discussion of the main application models in the different pathologies and conditions of human health and disease.
  • To provide students with a solid education in the most important fields of biomedical research today, such as pathophysiology and molecular pathology, genetic engineering, gene therapy, cell therapy, tissue engineering, drug research, human microbiology and immunology, and research into healthy eating.
  • To raise awareness among students of the need to apply the principles of bioethics and those arising from the One Health concept to biomedical research, which emerged from the recognition of global change, with a multidisciplinary and integrative approach.
  • To introduce students to research activities by carrying out a Master's Final Project, preferably of an experimental nature, in line with the research areas of the groups involved in teaching the master's degree.

Objectives

This program seeks to prepare students to contribute significantly to the field of biomedical research, addressing current challenges in a comprehensive and practical manner.
