Introduction

BSN in Nursing (Macedonia School of Nursing at the University of Health Sciences Antigua)

The Macedonia nursing program is a three-year program leading to the Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN). The BSN program mirrors the curriculum standards of U.S. nursing schools and follows the guidelines of the Caribbean Regional Nursing Board. Students receive excellent training from highly credentialed nursing and other faculty members. Graduates can practice in the USA and the Caribbean as well as other parts of the world. The entire program is spent on campus in Antigua. Students complete practical rotations at the Mount St. John Medical Center and other government healthcare facilities in Antigua. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the NCLEX examination and the Caribbean Regional Board Examination for licensure as an RN.

Nursing School Entry Requirements

Caribbean Students

Caribbean Students are required to have five (5) G.C.E.O level passes with a minimum grade of C, or five (5) CXC General passes with a minimum grade of III. Required courses for entry include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, an additional science subject such as Biology, and one additional general subject.

U.S. and International Students

U.S. and International Students must have earned a high school diploma with official transcripts displaying successful completion of English, Mathematics, and Chemistry with a minimum grade of C. We consider a GPA of not less than 2.0.

  • Copies of Academic Certificates/Diplomas
  • Recent passport sized photograph
  • Copy of marriage certificate, if applicable
  • First four pages of valid passport

Deficiencies

Students lacking one (1) of the core prerequisite courses may discuss the matter with the Dean of Nursing.

Transfer Students

Persons interested in transferring from other institutions will follow the same admission procedure as a new student. If the Applicant wishes to transfer from another School of Nursing, course description and a statement from the School indicating the status of the student at the time transfer/withdrawal will be required. Application for Admission to Macedonia School of Nursing and an official transcript from the previous nursing school is required. Evaluation of nursing courses for transfer credit consideration will be determined by the Academic Committee of the Macedonia School of Nursing.
