Introduction
Health management is a field that aims to efficiently allocate resources towards providing high-quality healthcare that is accessible to all individuals. This area of expertise covers a range of administrative and managerial functions, organizational structures, and financial systems that contribute to delivering better health services.
The Master's in Health Management (MHM) at the National School of Public Health NOVA (NOVA NSPH) was designed to respond to these needs and train health specialists with advanced knowledge and skills in the field of health management.
With a diverse faculty, consisting of professionals with a strong academic background, the program provides students with multiple learning experiences that emphasize critical thinking and evidence-based approaches. Graduates are prepared to face the current and future challenges in the health sector, whether in public, private, or third-sector organizations, in Portugal, or internationally.
The MHM is accredited by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) and the Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation (APHEA).

Ideal Students
The MHM program caters to two types of students - those who have already established themselves in the job market, particularly in the health sector, and are looking to advance their careers, and those who are yet to enter the job market but aspire to take up management positions within the health sector.

Curriculum
The Master's Health Management is of 120 ECTS and is completed in 2 years.
The first year is dedicated to the courses, while the second year is dedicated to the Master's thesis.

Program Outcome
The Master's Degree in Health Management at the National School of Public Health NOVA is designed to provide students with scientific knowledge and advanced skills for study and research in the field of health management.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Advance their careers within health management
- Acquire knowledge and develop skills, both in theoretical and practical realms, enabling them to engage in management activities within healthcare institutions;
- Contribute to enhancing health management at local, regional, and central levels, as well as improving the performance of healthcare organizations and systems at national and international levels;
- Develop the capacity to conduct research and contribute to knowledge advancement and problem-solving in health management, through participation in studies, research projects, or working groups, within this domain and related areas such as health policy and administration.
