Introduction
The doctoral study program "Preventive medicine and epidemiology" is using the principles of evidence-based medicine to assess the impact of various factors (physical, chemical, environmental, biological) on human health at the individual as well as the population level in order to identify possible approaches for prevention. The program integrates knowledge and approaches originating from the fields of toxicology, molecular biology, immunology including clinically-oriented disciplines. The program represents a theoretical basis for preventive disciplines in medicine, e.g. public health, epidemiology, and biostatistics.
According to article 3, paragraph 1, second sentence of the Code of Admission Procedure of Charles University, this program of study is offered without specialization.

The graduate in a doctoral study program (Ph.D.). Preventive Medicine and epidemiology will achieve education in the field of preventive medicine. On the principles of evidence-based medicine, the graduate will be able to assess the importance of various factors impacting the health of both an individual and the whole population and determine the possibilities and ways of prevention of health disorders.
By defense of the doctoral thesis, the graduate alleges the ability of individual research work, publication of results in scientific journals, and mentoring young researchers. The standard length of the study is four (4) years which also enables international scientific activities.
