Emergency medicine physicians work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and urgent care centers. Working in emergency medicine requires one to be able to think quickly and make decisions under pressure. They must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with other medical professionals to provide the best care for their patients. What is an Emergency Medicine degree?
A career in emergency medicine requires a minimum of four years of medical school, followed by a three-year residency program. Many emergency physicians also choose to pursue fellowship training in order to specialize in a particular area of interest. Fellowships can last up to two years.
