The new Master’s degree program „Master in Dental Technology“ (MDT) will be introduced in April 2019 at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main in order to offer advanced academic training in the field of dental technology. It is a 120 ECTS program with an international focus, which is conducted primarily in English.

In the preclinical second year, the Oral and Dental Biological Sciences, Dental Biomaterials Science and Preclinical Dentistry are extensively covered together with General Pathology & Microbiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics as well as the principles of Behavioural Sciences and Introductory Radiology. In Preclinical Dentistry there is emphasis on the student acquisition and development of clinical dental skills using patient simulators in the clinical skills laboratory supported by theoretical learning.

Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics serves as a health service in high demand from the population and is established as a specialty of the professional practice of Dentists. The focus of the program and its curricular proposal allows an in-depth approach to the knowledge that sustains the diagnostic and intervention procedures, supported by the use of state-of-the-art technologies and tools. The dental professional, upon completing the specialization, acquires and perfects the conceptual and methodological competencies and skills focused on obtaining high clinical and therapeutic results, at the highest scientific, academic, technological, and research level in the field of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

The Comprehensive Dental Assisting program is designed to prepare the student to become a multiskilled Dental Assistant in the front office or working with the dentist.

During the 16-month Specialized Associate of Applied Science degree program, students can learn four-handed dentistry, dental procedures, and office procedures. Students learn in a simulated on-site dental clinic and complete two externships to gain valuable real-world experience with patients.
