Health Care Programmes in Lithuania 2025

The aim of this program is to prepare public health practitioners, researchers, developers, and experts of health-enhancing physical activity programs and projects as well as specialists who are able to make and develop strategies and health promotion policies. The specialists will be able to manage and pursue their activities in educational, social, public and private sectors.

The Bachelor in Nursing programme aims to prepare competent nurses with the knowledge, skills and abilities of nursing science and practice, who can develop and improve professional, leadership, and teamwork competencies in pursuit of individual, family, community and public health. Upon completion of the four-year bachelor's degree in nursing, graduates will obtain a university bachelor's degree and a professional qualification as a general practice nurse. 

The General Practice Nursing study program is science and evidence-based practice teaching. The trained nursing specialist will have a deeply holistic approach to health, will be able to provide safe, high-quality services to society, apply modern technologies in professional activities, and help clients to form positive attitudes to improve health and quality of life.

The degree program Nursing aims at training nurses who understand the principles, theories and methods of nursing, have broad knowledge of nursing science, and who are able to independently and critically evaluate the nursing needs of healthy persons and chronically ill people with different somatic and mental health diseases, and develop a greater sense of both personal and professional value systems.

General Practice Nursing students have a lot of clinical training, professional internships take place in first-level practice centers, second-level hospitals, and third-level hospital departments. Students can choose part-time studies or internships under the “Erasmus+” study program in various foreign higher education institutions or medical institutions. Students have the opportunity to study and obtain a double diploma degree at XAMK University in Finland.

Study programme aims at preparing professionals who would acquire the skills and knowledge to close the gap between engineering and medicine by combining the design and problem-solving skills of engineering with medical biological sciences and to advance health care services through the application of engineering principles and design concepts, innovative technologies and methods of multidisciplinary research.

Medicinal Chemistry – an interdisciplinary area of studies and scientific research, which involves chemistry, biology, pharmacy, and other sciences for the creation and development of new medicines. The scope of the program is the preparation of qualified, motivated, and creative specialists, who have deep knowledge of chemistry and research skills, are able to formulate and solve the issues of medicinal chemistry science and the pharmaceutical industry, seeking to work at the high-tech scientific and industrial companies, which produce and supply pharmaceutical preparations, or to continue their education in doctoral studies.

The aim of the program is to educate high-quality university-level physiotherapists on the basis of the latest fundamental and applied interdisciplinary science and modern technological achievements.

The program based on international achievements in fundamental and applied interdisciplinary sciences and technologies has the aim to train advanced physiotherapy professionals who will be able to apply up-to-date scientific evidence-based diagnostic methods in clinical practice.

The Systems Biology Master’s program is developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Life Sciences Center, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics. This interdisciplinary Master’s degree program prepares students to perform real-world work in rapidly developing fields including, but not limited to, biological systems modelling, bioengineering, synthetic biology, bioinformatics, neurobiology and data analysis. It is ideal for current and future biologists who wish to take advantage of the most powerful statistical models and programming tools, to produce quantifiable results in their field of choice.

The Pharmaceutical Chemistry programme is more involved with the pharmaceutical industry and research aspects than with a traditional pharmacist’s customer service and patient care responsibilities. The studies will provide a graduate with the professional skills to work in industrial companies that develop, produce, investigate and/or supply pharmaceutical products, or in research institutes, or to continue their studies in doctoral programmes in the fields of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Medical Sciences.

The aims of the Dental Hygiene Programme are to educate and train dental hygienists based on the requirements recognized in the EU, to create possibilities for acquiring the qualification of a dental hygienist, granting the right to provide healthcare services, to foster interest in the novelties of the science and practice of oral health care, to develop creative, scientific, and critical thinking, and the sense of intellectual satisfaction from studies or work.

The degree program Odontology aims at educating dentists capable of diagnosing and treating dental conditions and cooperating with other health care specialists in ensuring individual and public health.

Study programme aims to prepare professionals of Biomechanics who, after completing the study program, would successfully enter the labor market related to the field of medical and biomechanical engineering, could be employed in industrial or state enterprises or in other fields chosen by the graduate. Alternatively, such graduates could pursue a degree and contribute to the well-being of the country and society through the application of: engineering practices and critical thinking acquired through continuous professional development and competence in lifelong learning.
