In the Nucleus of Research, the student can have contact with the basic research and participate in projects of Scientific Initiation in different areas: Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Experimental Oncology, among others. All this, added to humanistic training, to the concepts of sustainability and entrepreneurship and the vision of the future that the course provides makes our student a differentiated and contested professional in the job market.

The course provides the student with a practical learning aimed at the professional market through a faculty composed of professors doctors who have vast experience in their respective areas of performance. In the Veterinary Complex are developed the practical activities of teaching, research, extension, as well as Clinical and surgical visits of small and large animals, complementing the theoretical training given. Its support structure includes three surgical centers, eight clinical outpatient clinics, clinical analysis, animal reproduction and preventive medicine labs, necropsy and surgical techniques rooms, anatomy and microscopy laboratories, fluid therapy room and imaging sector ( Radiology, ultrasonography and echocardiography), as well as a large animal care yard, bays and kennels for the maintenance of the animals of the Complex and under care. During the course, the student is encouraged to participate in research activities carried out by teachers, as well as And of technical-scientific cooperation programs maintained with national and foreign institutions, such as the San Diego Zoo, which maintains the only project in the country funded by the Zoological Society of San Diego. Educational activities are promoted, including courses and lectures to the community on basic care in animal husbandry, responsible possession and animal welfare, vaccination and castration campaigns for dogs and cats, adoption of abandoned animals and veterinary assistance to rural establishments . Course professors and students who undertake scientific initiation comprise a research group entitled Structural and Functional Veterinary Pathology registered at CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development), which develops projects in the research lines of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases in Domestic Animals And Wild Animals, Experimental Pathology, Veterinary Oncology and Toxicology.
