The Health Care Administration Management program is for international graduate students with previous education/experience in health sciences. Courses will provide you with business and leadership skills to work within the Canadian health care system. Students graduating from this program will find employment opportunities within medical clients, physician practices, hospitals and more.

This program is designed to assist Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) to work as part of an inter-professional healthcare team in geriatric and palliative care settings. Students acquire the knowledge and expertise to enhance an individual’s quality of living and dying as part of an end of life process. To meet the individual needs of the client during this transitional phase of their life, students examine current theories and explore best practices to build skills in assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Through a combination of classroom instruction and lab, students focus on the importance of communication, spirituality, ethics, law and culturally responsive nursing care for an aging or end-of-life population. Students will have an opportunity to consolidate their classroom learning with one practicum placement in a variety of settings that may include hospital, community, home care or long term care.

Bridging to University Nursing - IEN is a two-semester program for internationally educated nurses who must fill theoretical or practical gaps in their learning, as identified by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). This graduate certificate program is also accessible to domestic graduates who require an updated education or practice to reinstate their registration as a nurse with the CNO.

The one-year Personal Support Worker Ontario College Certificate program, delivered over 28 weeks, prepares you for an in-demand career in the healthcare field. As a frontline care provider, you develop the ability to engage with persons and families of various ages and health-related needs to promote healthy living. Learn how to assist clients with their daily personal care needs, such as nutrition, bathing, dressing, toileting, and household management.

The certificate in Thanatology aims to promote awareness and understanding of death and how it affects individuals. Courses in the program focus on grief and bereavement issues, communication strategies, and religious philosophies of dying and death from the perspective of both the dying and the bereaved. Graduates of this unique program will have the skills and experience to better understand, support, and care for those facing or coping with death.

This graduate certificate program provides basic management knowledge for practitioners and entry-level managers in the health sector. The focus is on providing students with the knowledge necessary to enter a management position in the Canadian healthcare system. The GCHSM is available for students who wish to increase their knowledge level but may be unable to, or are cautious about, committing to a full Master’s degree.

Pre-Health Science is a one-year Ontario College Certificate program for students interested in a pathway to an advanced diploma or degree. Students will study subject areas relevant to health and career programs at Fanshawe. The goal of the program is to prepare students for their chosen health career paths.

The Holistic Nutrition Certificate Program (HNCP) is a unique 4-month program that introduces students to whole foods nutrition and the medicinal uses of food according to various cultures.

Aggressive and prompt airway management on the part of the rescuer is of paramount importance. Oxygen (O2) is a medication and, if properly used, is an excellent tool in combating shock. Annual re-certification with CPR is required to maintain current standards.
