Associate Degree Programmes in Healthcare Emergency Medicine EMT

An associate degree is a qualification awarded by a university for completing a program of study usually lasting two years. This degree is a lower education level than a bachelor’s degree, and many complete a program to seek new careers.

What is an associate degree in EMT? Emergency medical technicians, sometimes called ambulance technicians, are professionals that administer emergency medical services. EMTs respond as quickly as possible when called to the scene of medical emergencies, including medical complications, accidents and other instances of traumatic injury. In most cases, an aspiring EMT will need around 120 to 180 hours of classroom training.  Overall, training can take anywhere from a few months to as long as two years, depending on local regulatory requirements and the performance of the student. In addition to medical education requirements, the curriculum for EMT training often includes clinical rotation as well. Upon completing their education, students will also need to pass a final state examination in order to obtain legal certification.

Emergency services are, unfortunately, something that will always be necessary in the modern world. Training in this field will usually afford a graduate many opportunities for employment with different institutions.

Because the cost of taking first aid courses can vary for a number of different reasons, it is a good idea to research and contact directly one’s school of choice before applying.

An EMT might find employment in several different environments. Most commonly, EMTs are found working within organizations that provide emergency services, such as police, fire departments and hospitals, but these professionals are also needed in other areas, including factories and other worksites, and various sections of the entertainment industry. In some locations, they may be employed as part of a stand-alone municipal government agency.
