7 M.D. Programmes in Global Healthcare 2024

The Professional Doctorate in Healthcare Practice program will facilitate students to develop advanced skills in designing and conducting research and practice based inquiry relevant to their own area of practice. These skills are applicable to a variety of careers in healthcare, government and non-profit (voluntary) organisations.

The department welcomes applications from students interested in undertaking research towards attainment of a higher degree. To meet this goal the department offers students a high level of expertise and support in a variety of research subjects.

The DMed degree is conferred by virtue of a thesis and, if the Dean deems it necessary, an examination on the field of study of the thesis.

The Office of Global Health (OGH) at UT Southwestern is committed to reducing health disparities globally, and training the next generation of leaders in global health. The OGH has supported global health activities for more than 700 students since 2010. These students have completed clinical rotations and research activities in more than 35 countries around the world. UT Southwestern recognizes the opportunity for expansion of our global footprint through collaborative partnerships that leverage unique strengths to improve health outcomes while providing opportunities for the next generation of health care professionals to gain technical skills and exposure to cultures, societies, and unique diseases.

The area of ​​professional activity in which graduates who have mastered the program can carry out professional activities: Education and Science (in the field of scientific research); Health care (in the area of ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population, consumer protection, preventive medicine).

The Community Health Track provides students with practice-oriented and/or service-oriented learning opportunities related to community medicine. The track provides students interested in Community Health with an immersive and experiential opportunity that blends traditional learning modalities (didactic lectures, roundtable discussions, and individual-paced study) with fieldwork conducting research in collaboration with selected community-based organizations, within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, working with underserved populations.

The Global MD Program is a comprehensive, four-year longitudinal track in global health that is integrated into the curriculum at American University of Antigua College of Medicine.
