The lack of nurses who hold Bachelor’s Degrees was the main reason behind establishing this faculty in the University. The Department aims at preparing and developing specialized staff in order to improve the performance of nurses and contribute to developing the community through empowering students with practical and scientific knowledge presented by highly qualified academic staff who encourage students to keep up with the advances in this field and motivate them to self-learning and to pursue their higher studies.
The IMU Bachelor of Nursing is a 4-year full-time programme which prepares a student to become a registered nurse, qualified to practice in a variety of settings in either the public or private healthcare sectors. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing, the graduate can choose to work as a registered nurse or pursue an advanced diploma or post basic specialisation in maternity, orthopaedic, critical care nursing, renal nursing, perioperative nursing, community nursing, gerontology nursing and more. Graduates can also choose to further their studies at the masters and doctoral (PhD) level.
The Bachelor of Nursing (Top-up) programme provides an opportunity for registered nurses in Singapore and surrounding countries who hold registration with the Singapore Nursing Board as registered nurses to upgrade their qualifications and skills. This programme has had 14 successful intakes and over 350 graduates and students since 2003. The programme adopts a student-oriented approach and reorients the existing knowledge and experience base of registered nurses towards proactive problem-solving practices.
The objective of the program is to promote effective operation of the healthcare system by educating of qualified and highly competent nurses. Students are qualified to work as Nurse internationally and locally or continue their education in local or international universities
It’s 4 years program. The program has been approved and accredited by the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council. The teaching and learning methods are conducted mainly in English. However, during clinical practice, students will be helped to use Thai to the patients when appropriate to meet the need of clients and extra Thai language courses are available for International students to improve their Thai language skills.
