Introduction
Nursing Care Management I. (4) This course focuses on the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are fundamental to nursing practice with application in acute or extended care settings. Admission to the nursing program, Co-requisites BIOL 243, 243L; ENGL 101; Pre-requisite LANU 206.
Pharmacologic Basics. (2) This introductory course outlines the basic concepts of pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacotherapeutics. The process of clinical calculations is introduced, as well as the major drug classifications. Admission to the nursing program, Co-requisites BIOL 243, BIOL 243L; ENGL 101; LANU 104; Pre-requisite – LANU 206.
Nurse Care Management II. (6) Focuses on the delivery of nursing care to an increasing number of individuals experiencing health problems emphasizing selected physiological systems. Pre-requisites – LANU 104; LANU 206; LANU 106, Co-requisites – BIOL 244, BIOL 244L; PSYC 101; LANU 211.
Clinical Skills Application. (2) Involves the application of knowledge, skills, and abilities in a clinical setting. Admission to the nursing program, Co-requisites BIOL 243, 243L; ENGL 101.
Nursing Management III. (5) Focuses on the delivery of nursing care to an increasing number of individuals experiencing health problems emphasizing selected physiological systems. Pre-requisite– LANU 159; LANU 211, Co-requisite-ENGL 102.
Care of the Childbearing Family. (4) This course facilitates the application of the nursing process to assist in meeting the needs of the childbearing and child-rearing family. Focus is on both normal and abnormal aspects. Pre-requisite–LANU 104; LANU 206; LANU 106, Co-requisite-LANU 159; PSYC 101; BIOL 244, BIOL 244L.
Mental Health Nursing. (4) This course facilitates the utilization of the nursing process to assist in meeting the needs of patients with common mental health problems. Focus is on the dynamics of human behavior, ranging from normal to extreme. Pre-requisite–LANU 229; Co-requisite-LANU 219.
Nursing Management and Leadership. (4) This course prepares the student for the professional nursing role through the introduction of management skills required to care for small groups of individuals and to function as a leader of a nursing team. Pre-requisite–LANU 214.
Nursing Management IV. (6) This course focuses on the delivery of nursing care to clients throughout the lifespan who are experiencing complex, multi-system health problems. Pre-requisite–LANU 209; Co-requisite-BIOL 250, BIOL 250L; MATH 111.
